Cenat previously expressed his hopes of directing a Drizzy music video after detailing his vision for the “Nokia” video on a live stream, and following a conversation with Drake, he’s opened the door for others.
Kai explained during a live stream on Saturday (May 17) that 20 emerging creatives will direct Drake and PND’s moody hit. “Y’all also get to play a part,” he said. “We are choosing somebody who loves me. Everybody who loves directing, everybody who loves to come up with treatments and s–t. 30 seconds to a minute of an idea of what y’all got.”
Fans are encouraged to submit 30-second to one-minute clips with treatment ideas for the video to SSS4U@Drakerelated.com by May 24. Any part of the song is up for grabs for creative direction.
Kai, alongside Drake and PartyNextDoor, will choose 20 individuals who will be given $15,000 each to bring their romantic visions and storytelling concepts to life for the music video. Drizzy reposted Cenat’s stream to Instagram with a post captioned, “CALLING ALL VI$$$IONARIES.”
Produced by DJ Lewis, “Somebody Loves Me” landed on Drake and Party’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U album, which arrived on Valentine’s Day. The track has held strong for 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, clocking in at No. 57 on the chart dated May 17.
